LA Yachtbau-Manufaktur in Waren has added a larger sister to its beautiful LA28. The new ship has the same genes, but more interior fittings

She was the eye-catcher at trade fairs in Germany: the excitingly beautiful LA28 from LA Yacht- und Bootsbau in Waren an der Müritz (test in YACHT 1/16). Due to numerous requests from potential customers, shipyard boss Lothar Fichtner has decided to expand the concept and build the beauty one size larger. He now wants to offer the boat with a cruising interior for up to four people.

The outstanding feature of the new boat will also be the harmoniously rounded transition from the hull to the deck - a real feast for the eyes and hands. Added to this is the visually striking canoe bow with a slightly negatively sloping stem. As with the LA28, the designer is Martin Menzner from Berckemeyer Yacht Design in Stein on the Bay of Kiel. The hull and deck are made entirely from Khaya mahogany (outer layers), teak (deck), sipo and cedar (inner layers) using modern vacuum technology.

The rig will be made of carbon fibre and will be covered with a rod. In addition, the LA35 will be fitted with a self-tacking device for the jib as standard. A lifting keel with a draught variation of 1.30 to 2.20 metres is planned for the first LA35. However, the fixed keel with a draught of 2.10 metres will be standard. The LA35 can be equipped with one long or two short rudder blades, depending on requirements. The steering fins are built underneath the larger vessel. On the smaller sister LA28, the rudder is attached to the stern. Additional variance is offered for the motorisation. Both an electric drive or a built-in diesel engine would be feasible.

The LA35 is being built with a cosy interior. A total of four adults will be able to sleep comfortably in the saloon and forward cabin. A small galley and a partially separated toilet area are added to make the boat suitable for travelling.

Lothar Fichtner wants to launch the LA35 soon. The first presentation is planned for January 2018 at the boot trade fair in Düsseldorf. And Fichtner has already given an initial price estimate: the beauty from the Müritz will cost 220,000 euros, without the sails and without a built-in engine.
